Registered Office Signboards
Registered Office Signboards

Any height - Any number of columns - In fact any size
5 company names or 500 company names - no problem - we can make & install a signboard to suit your needs. And your signboard can be easily extended as your client list grows - simply by adding columns. We can add columns indefinitely, limited only by available wall space. If you run out of horizontal space we can extend vertically by butting another signboard up underneath. You'll hardly see the join!
Legal requirements and penalty for non-compliance
Sections 82-85 of the Companies Act 2006 and Statutory Instrument 2008 No. 495 require that a limited company must display its registered name at it registered office. Where a company fails, without reasonable excuse, to comply, an offence is committed by the company and every officer of the company who is in default. A person guilty of the offence is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 (£1000 as at December 2008) on the standard scale and, for continuing contravention, a daily default fine not exceeding one tenth of level 3 on the standard scale.
Could be self-financing
As our customers are mostly firms of accountants and solicitors, they are providing a signboard facility as a service in order that their clients may comply with the law. Most of our customers therefore pass on the cost of each nameplate plus a handling charge to the relevant client. In this way the signboard is self-financing and should cost our customers nothing at all.
The marketing benefit
Visitors to your office and potential new clients will be impressed with your professionally presented client list and will feel confident that you are well established with a solid client base. Existing clients will feel valued and reassured that you are looking after their interests by ensuring that their legal obligations are being met.
Exchange & maintenance service
A signboard will normally be supplied with blank plates as well as printed ones. The blank plates provide the space for your client list as it grows. When you require a new name to go on the signboard you simply post a blank plate back to us, we put a name on & post it back to you. Obsolete nameplates can also be returned. We can clean then off and put new names on. And we don't charge anything for cleaning off. So if you should find that your client list shrinks, you don't have to have gaps on your signboard. Just send the redundant nameplates back to us and we will replace them with blank plates free of charge.
How many blank plates?
When we fit the nameplates we fit them in alphabetical order. We spread the blank plates out using them to divide up the alphabetical groups. So 25 blanks will give you about 1 blank between each group, 50 would give you about 2. The number of blanks is entirely up to you but we recommend that you allow for a couple of years growth. We can easily extend the signboard if you do run out of space but you don't want to be doing that too soon after purchasing it.
How big will your signboard be?
Each nameplate is 250mm long and is on a vertical pitch of 20.5mm. Allowing 8mm for the vertical black rib and 1mm for clearance, the width of a single column is 8 + 250 + 1 + 8 = 267mm. For each extra column you add 250 + 8 + 1 = 259mm. So, for example, a two column signboard is 267 + 259 = 526mm wide. To calcuate the height simply multiply the number of nameplates in a column by 20.5mm. So a signboard with 20 in a column would be 20 x 20.5 = 410mm tall.

Free quotation
As signboards are all made to order and can be any size, we need to know how many printed plates (client company names) you require and how many blank plates you require to allow for future additions. Because we use a modular system, we can configure the signboard in various ways to suit the space available. For example, a signboard with 240 plates could be 4 columns of 60, 5 columns of 48, 6 columns of 40, and so on. With the quotation we will supply drawings of a range of options so that you can choose which you think looks best and which will best fit the available wall space. Large signboards are delivered and installed free of charge. Use the contact page to get in touch for your free quotation now.
Construction & materials
There is no board as such. There are vertical aluminium tracks which screw to the wall - side tracks at each side and divider tracks in the middle. These are the black vertical ribs visible on the photos. The tracks carry plastic clips and the nameplates, which are channel shaped, simply push on to these clips at each end. Individual nameplates can be very easily removed using the removal tool supplied by us to pop them out. Nameplates are satin silver anodised aluminium and the lettering is self-adhesive computer-cut matt vinyl.
The header plate
This is the larger plate at the top that carries YOUR company name and address and the wording "Registered office of". Like the client nameplates this is satin silver anodised aluminium and is channel shaped so that it clips to the signboard in exactly the same way. It can therefore be positioned anywhere on the signboard. Standard header plates are three times the depth of a client nameplate. Larger header plates or specials incorporating your company logo and/or corporate colours can also be supplied at extra cost. We always supply a proof of the header plate before printing it.
Security
Our signboards are weatherproof but because nameplates are necessarily easy to remove we do not recommend that they be installed in an unsupervised area. The regulations require that "it must be positioned so that it may be easily seen by any visitor to the office". Our customers usually install them in reception areas or hallways which are only accessible during office hours.
Limited or Ltd?
Some of our customers request the word "Limited" be always shown in full, others perfer "Ltd" consistently, whilst others require that it be shown in the same way as it appears on the Companies House register - some as "Limited" and some as "Ltd". We will therefore always print nameplates in the style shown on your order. Please ensure they are shown as you require them.
Postage & packing charges
We hate being ripped off with excessive P&P charges so we don't do it to our customers. For all postal deliveries we charge a nominal £1 for packing irrespective of size plus Royal Mail 1st class at cost. Exchange plates are usually turned around within a week.
What do we need from you?
All we need is a list of the clients' names to go on the signboard, a deposit for 1/3rd the quoted price + VAT and an order showing your company name and address details for the header plate. Delivery for a new signboard is normally within 3 working weeks.
